Summa completes ISO 9001 surveillance audit as part of its continuous compliance cycle

06-03-2026

Quality isn’t something you certify once. It’s something you safeguard continuously. ISO 9001, the world’s most widely used quality management standard, helps organizations deliver consistent, reliable products by embedding structured processes, risk‑based thinking, and ongoing improvement into daily operations.

At Summa, this commitment is more than a requirement; it’s part of how we work. Last week, LRQA conducted our annual ISO 9001 surveillance audit — a key step in maintaining continuous compliance with the standard. We are proud to share that we successfully passed without any issues.

What ISO 9001 represents

ISO 9001 provides organizations with a framework to design controlled processes, enhance product consistency, and drive continuous improvement. Its process-based approach and emphasis on leadership involvement ensure that quality is not an isolated activity but a well-integrated discipline.

It is also the most widely adopted global standard for quality management — used across industries to demonstrate reliability and compliance.

How ISO 9001 supports improvement at Summa

For Summa, ISO 9001 is a foundation for maintaining and improving quality. Our certification demonstrates that:

  • Our production processes are structured, monitored, and refined based on international best practices.

  • Quality is supported at all levels, with leadership playing a central role in reinforcing a quality-driven culture.

  • Continuous improvement is embedded into our workflows, ensuring our solutions remain consistently high-performing.

Continuous compliance: why yearly surveillance is essential

ISO 9001 certification is maintained through a cycle of audits designed to ensure ongoing adherence.

  • Every three years, organizations must undergo full recertification — which Summa successfully completed in 2025.

  • In the years between, surveillance audits are mandatory. Their purpose is continuous compliance: verifying that processes remain aligned with ISO 9001 requirements on an ongoing basis.

These annual surveillance audits act as a targeted sample check of how well documented procedures are applied in practice.

Last week, LRQA — a globally recognized ISO auditing partner — conducted our surveillance audit as part of this continuous compliance cycle. Their assessments follow international guidelines, and they support organizations in staying aligned with the evolving ISO 9001 requirements, including preparation for the 2026 update.

Summa passed the audit with no issues, demonstrating the strength and consistency of our quality management system.

Why this matters for our customers and partners

ISO 9001 certification reassures customers and partners that Summa:

  • Builds products through controlled, repeatable, and reliable processes.

  • Manages risks proactively, following the process‑based and risk‑focused principles at the core of the standard.

  • Keeps pace with modern expectations such as digitalization, data integrity, and supply chain robustness, all emphasized in the upcoming ISO 9001:2026 revision.

This translates into stable performance, predictable outcomes, and trust in every Summa machine.

A continuous journey forward

Passing this year’s surveillance audit reaffirms our dedication to continuous compliance and continuous improvement. As the ISO 9001:2026 update approaches, bringing refinements around resilience, digitalization, and stakeholder expectations, we remain committed to staying ahead.

Quality at Summa is not a milestone, it’s a mindset, a discipline, and a promise we uphold every day.
